I almost emailed to ask why the database was blank, but now i see your link next to “download plugin now” button and see the databases are in a separate file. Glad to see they are free too, I was worried maybe they would have a price attached to them.
I hope this post will help any other users that wonder why the database is blank upon install.

Thanks a lot. Works very well for me. I used it to create content on more than 30 sites now. You offer databases for English and Indonesian now. Any chance for other languages? I”d love one in Spanish!

Hey Sid,
We would love to offer several other language databases in the future. Non-English sites are so much fun to work with. We’ll be writing an article sharing our experience about this in the future.
As for a Spanish DB, i would love one too. I can only speak enough Spanish to get me into trouble, but surely not enough to get me out. So this will have to wait till we get someone with a more talented tongue on staff.
That is, unless of course you would like to create one and donate it for us to share with our readers? We might even be able to work out something sweet to show our appreciation. Like maybe some free links, or a membership to WP Mothership in trade for your time?

If you guys could use a database in French, let me know. I don’t know how to create a database but I suppose there are tools to make it simple. French being my native language, I should be able to do this.

If you could send us an excel spreadsheet, where each row contains a listing of interchangeable words, we can convert it to the proper format.
The file would look something like this. ( “|” indicating rows)
row1: | seduce | tempt | attract | entice | invite |
row2: | cash | banknote | money | currency | bucks | coinage |
row3: | success | accomplishment | achievement | triumph | victory | savvy |

The Thesaurus database only shows strange characters.

Hi JP
You’ll need to unzip the database file first.
Once unzipped you will find 2 files.
One which is an English thesaurus, one which is an Indonesian thesaurus.
Both contain only standard characters.
If your seeing funny characters, then maybe your looking at the php code of the plug-in itself and not the database files.

Yes, you will need to add a database. The database tells WP Thesaurus which words to look out for, and what words to replace the found words with. Some strategies might call for changing only specific words, while others may call for changing everything possible. Therefore each user should add a database of their choosing. Databases can be added in the Add Synonym section, as shown in the screenshot above.
We provide a couple free databases, and will be adding more for other languages in the future.

A powerful engine but completely free, it can replace the expensive tools with similar purpose. It’s really a must-have plugin for IM’ers.

The plugin is still available for free. I just tested the download button, and it worked fine. Maybe the server was restarting when you clicked. All should be fine now, try again when your ready.
